Chilli gobi or chilli cauliflower or chilli phool gobi is a Indian cum Chinese recipe which is very tasty snack or dinner time food item. Equipment

  • 1 Frying Pan Non sticky or normal it does not matter. But non sticky pan will give you feel better cook.
  • 1 Bowl To mix the vegetables with other ingredients
  • 1 Chopper or knief
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pc Big Cauliflower / gobi
  • 3-4 pc Green chilies You can add green chilies according to your taste
  • 8-10 pc Chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 3 tbsp garlic ginger green chili paste
  • 2 pc Onion Big size better and cut into square shapes
  • 1 pc Capsicum Cut into square shapes. If you have yellow or red capsicums then this also gives a better look to your chili gobi recipe else green capsicum is okay.
  • 1 tbsp Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Corn flour
  • 1/2 tbsp Black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp Rice flour / all purpose flour rice flour gives the crunchiest flavour to gobi
  • 1 tbsp Soya sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Katchup
  • 1 tbsp Green chili sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup Sunflower oil Required to fry the marinated gobi/cauliflower, onions and capsicums
  • Salt As per taste

Instructions
 

  • First take a complete gobi/cauliflower, clean it and cut it to medium sizes. Check the phool gobi thoroughly so that there should be any bugs.
  • Like wise cut the onion and capsicums also into square shapes.

  • Now take a bowl of clean and chopped gobi and then add corn flour, rice flour, salt, red chili powder, black pepper powder, turmeric powder, pinch of ginger garlic green chili paste into it to marinate the gobi.

  • Now do the same process for onions and capsicums also. But do it in two different bowls because first we will fry the marinated gobis and then onions and capsicums. If we fry all at once then onion and capsicums were over fried. So to prevent it fry all differently.
  • Now trun on the gas stove and fry the marinated gobi for 4-5 minutes in the medium flame till it turns brown coloured. You can fry it by using more or less oil depending on your taste.

  • Now fry the onions and capsicums but fry it for not more than 2 minutes otherwise cripsyness will be gone.
  • Now keep all the fried ingredients in a bowl.

  • Now put a frying pan on the gas flame and add some oil into it to make the chili gobi process.
  • Once the oil is heat then add chopped ginger, garlic and green chilies into it.
  • After 20 seconds add garlic ginger green chili paste into it and fry it for again 20-30 seconds.
  • Now, add soya sauce, vinegar, tomato katchup, green chili sauce, black pepper powder into it and keep frying for 10-15 seconds.
  • Then take a small bowl and add 1/2 tbsp corn flour and water into it. Mix the mixture well and keep pouring slowly into the frying pan.
  • Now let the mixture be boiled. You can add water as per your requirements that is if you want gravy then add some more water and if you want dry chili then add small amount of water.
  • Now add all the fried gobi, onion and capsicums into the frying pan and keep frying for 1 minute.
  • Mix well all the ingredients in the frying pan and now your hot chili gobi food item is ready to serve.

Notes

Important note for this Chili gobi recipe is once you add salt to the marinated gobi then do not keep the mixture for more time as it releases water which can removes the crypsiness from the fried gobi.
Dry chili gobi recipe :- If you add less corn flour water into the final mixture then this will turn into dry chili gobi.
Gravy chili gobi recipe :- If you add corn flour water slightly more into the final mixture then this will turn into chili gobi gravy.
Chili gobi is a very tasty food item which you can eat with roti, chawal or just as a snack item.
