Non Sticky Sabudana khichdi Recipe (Healthy Breakfast)

Sabudana khichdi is very famous as a healthy breakfast or snack recipe.
It is prepared by soaking the sabudana for at least 4-5 hrs or overnight. During vrat or fasting, people can eat this recipe as it can be made without onion and garlic also.
This food item is very easy to digest so sick people can also eat it. We can make various types of recipes using sabudana. Sabudana khichdi is one of the tastiest recipes among them.
Sabudana plants are also known as tapioca or yuca.

Equipment

  • 1 Pan or Kadhai Normal or non sticky pan both are okay
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Bowl To soak the sabudana
  • 1 Mixer or grinder

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cup Big size sabudana Big size would be better if small then also okay
  • 1 pc Onion You can skip this if you are making this sabudana khichidi for vrat or fasting
  • 7-8 pc Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Grated ginger
  • 1-2 pc Green chilies You can increase or decrease the number of green chilies depending on your taste.
  • 1/2 cup Raw Peanuts
  • 2 tbsp Gota Jeera
  • 1 tbsp Lemon
  • 2 tbsp Sunflower oil / Ghee
  • Salt as per taste

Instructions
 

  • First take a bowl and add the sabudana and rinse it upto 7-8 times throughly till the white starch will removed or cleaned up.
  • Now take a bowl, add the cleaned sabu dana and pour water upto the sabudana level.
  • Soak the sabudana for at least 4-5 hrs or you can soak it overnight.

  • Now lets fry the raw peanuts in the frying pan without adding any oil or ghee.

  • Now put the fried peanuts into a mixer and mix it for just 1-2 seconds. Do not make it smooth. Rough texture is suitable for this sabudana khichidi recipe.

  • Now fry some gota jeera in a frying pan and just fry it for 1-2 minutes. Do not overfry otherwise it will burn.

  • Allow the fried gota jeera to cool for 2-3 minutes make a powder form of it.

  • In a plate keep the onions, curry leaves and green chilies which we have to put once the oil is heat.

  • Now, put the frying pan on the gas stove on medium flame.
  • Add oil/ghee depending on your taste and occasion to heat.
  • Once the oil is heat then add some gota jeera into it. After 2-3 seconds add chopped onions, grated ginger, curry leaves and green chilies into it.
  • Fry all for 10-15 seconds and then add soaked sabudana into it.
  • Then add salt as per taste into it.
  • Mix well all the ingredients for at least 4-5 minutes till the colour of the sabudana are changed into transparent.
  • Then add powdered peanuts and jeera into the mixture.

  • Mix well for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Now switch off the gas flame and add the lemon juice into it and mix wll all the ingredients.
  • Tasty and healthy sabudana khichidi is now ready to serve hot. You can add some coriander leaves if you have for garnishing and to add some extra flavour.

  • If you want to try this above sabudana khichdi with potato then please go through the below instructions.
  • First, boil the 3-4 medium or small size potatoes and then cut them into equal halves. After the oil is heated in the Pan or kadhai add jeera, curry leaves, and onions as said above. Then add the boiled potatoes and stir them until it looks brown. After that add soaked sabudana into it. Rest all the procedures are the same as above.

Notes

Very important and must remember note for khili khili or nonsticky Sabudana khichdi recipe is to rinse or clean the sabudana clearly so that no or little starch will be there in the soaked sabudana. Another important thing is that always use big size sabudana to make this Sabudana khichdi recipe. If you want your sabudana to be nonsticky then must remember the above notes.
Another thing is that you can add boiled potato to this sabudana khichdi. You can also use a non-stick pan or kadhai if you have to make this sabudana khichdi recipe to be nonsticky.
Types of Sabu dana: There are normally 2 types of sabudana present.
1. Small size sabudana: You can make pana or juice by soaking this small size Sabu dana. Also, you can make sabudana Khiri by using this small size sabudana.
2. Big size sabudana: This type of big size sabudana is used for the sabudana khichdi recipe.
If you want to make this sabudana khichdi for vrat or fasting then skip the onions as this does not make much difference in the taste.
